Autographs on Maremagnum.com
The passion of owning letters and manuscripts of important people is very old, but in reality we can say that autographs are a collecting born in the nineteenth century. From that period date the first albums, which reproduce, first in lithography, and then photographically, the signatures of famous people of the time.
Speaking of "autographs" one should not include autographed books, but above all handwritten letters (even typed letters can be considered autographs, provided that they bear the original signature).
The uniqueness (and originality of the document) can make the autographs very interesting: we can cite in this regard the values achieved in recent auctions by the original manuscript of the J'accuse by Émile Zola.
