Portrait of Jan Hus. Born c. 1372 in Husinec, Czech Republic. Died 6 July 1415 in Konstanz, Germany. Copper engraving by Hendrik Hondius (1573-1650), c. 1600. Reasonable condition. Margins almost trimmed to the plate mark. Some browning along the upper edge (=also affecting the image a bit). Verso: Dutch text. Mounted onto a modern album leaf, with a 20th century image of his signature and on the verso of the mount a 20th century depiction of Hus at Scheiterhausen. Note: dimensions reflect the plate mark. Dimensions: 169 x 121 mm.
