Bibliographic details
ONE OF ONLY TEN COPIES ON JAPANESE PAPER OF THE FIRST EDITION of this major autobiographical novel. Myriam Harry, born Maria Rosette Shapira into a Protestant family (her father had converted from Judaism) in Jerusalem, won the first Prix Femina in 1905 (the prize had been created because the Prix Goncourt could not be won by a woman). From a total large-paper issue of 100 numbered copies, this is ONE OF ONLY 10 PRINTED ON JAPON. Attractively bound in quarter morocco and marbled boards by FRANZ (signed). Fore- and lower edges uncut. Traces of wear to binding, internally FINE AND BRIGHT. Obviously very rare.
