From a total edition of 650 numbered copies, this is ONE OF ONLY EIGHT (8) COPIES PRINTED ON FINE RIVES LAID PAPER WITH TWO EXTRA SUITES OF THE ILLUSTRATIONS: ON MARAIS WOVE PAPER AND, only in these 8 copies, ON RIVES LAID PAPER AS DRYPOINTS, WITH EXTREMELY STRONG BURR. The illustrations were initially engraved in drypoint; after 8 sets were printed (including the one in this copy), the burr was filed down and the lines were strengthened with a burin. I have been an expert in livres d'artiste for decades, but I know of no other one that provides separate suites in pure drypoint and burin. EACH PROOF IN BOTH OF THE SUITES IS SIGNED IN PENCIL AND JUSTIFIED BY THE ARTIST. 4to. Beautifully bound in three-quarters morocco and decorated boards. Original wraps and backstrip preserved. Top edge gilt, other edges uncut. FINE AND BRIGHT, with no defects. Copies of this deluxe issue are obviously of the greatest rarity.
