TWO VERY DIFFERENT COPIES OF THIS RARE EXAMPLE OF "NOZZE" PRINTED FOR THE WEDDING OF GIOVANNI SFORZA (1846-1922) AND ELISABETTA PIERANTONI. Sforza would go on to become an important (and extremely prolific) writer, historian, and numismatist. XV, 31 pp. The text is a tale by Giovanni Papanti, a friend of Sforza's who produced this volume. Edition limited to only 80 numbered copies beautifully printed in various formats on a variety of fine and rare papers. Here offered for sale (together) are two copies: (a) One of six copies on "carta inglese da disegno" (English drawing paper), and (b) One of twelve copies on carta arcimperiale cerulea (Arch-imperial cerulean paper). Copy (a) measures 25 cm and is a pristine copy in the original wraps. Copy (b) measures 31 cm and is attractively bound in contemporary half morocco and decorated boards, monogrammed in gilt on the front cover. Both copies have huge margins, as the text block measures only 7 x 3.5 cm. Both copies have light wear to extremities, but are very solid and internally bright and fine. A unique ensemble, and a wonderful example of the nozze genre, printed for a descendant of one of Italy's legendary houses.
